   Starting in Amsterdam, Amalegro sails into Belgium’s canals to visit Ghent, the jewel of Flanders. Then   you’ll visit the world’s diamond capital Antwerp, the spell-binding beauty of Bruges, (a UNESCOWorld Heritage site), and Belgian capital Brussels. Re-entering the Rhine at Nijmegen, you’ll delight in visiting historic Cologne with its imposing cathedral.

The three days you’ll spend in the Moselle River region are another highlight; exploring its vine clad hillsides, the dramatic Reichsburg Castle, and the Roman city of Trier. Bernkastel, with over 500 years of wine heritage, is of particular intrigue. You will rejoin the Rhine at Koblenz, a city built on both banks and dating from 1000 BC, and cruise the spectacular Rhine Gorge. It’s a unique combination of geological and historical features complete with its own microclimate, an array of castles and the towering Lorelei Rock.
 

Then you visit the remarkably picturesque town of Rudesheim with its wonderful musical instrument museum. From here you travel to Worms, famous for Liebfraumilch wine and a fierce claimant to being ‘the oldest city in Germany’. Heidelberg, Germany’s ‘romantic’ centre and famous as the home of the Student Prince, is your next port of call. Next you’ll enjoy Strasbourg’s renowned architecture, quaint medieval streets, atmospheric canals, and renaissance buildings. There’s also a highly-recommended optional tour to Baden Baden, the sophisticated spa, prized by the Romans and frequented by European royalty.
 

At Basel you will leave Amalegro to enjoy a memorable five day tour of Switzerland, including Lucerne and a lake cruise with its amazing alpine backdrop. Visiting the delightful Lauterbrunnen lets you climb by rail to Jungfraujoch to see the mighty peaks of Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau. And, fittingly, your magical journey concludes in Zurich— one of the world’s favourite cities.
