Web warning

ANOTHER warning today about the risks Australian cruise buyers are taking in dealing with foreign websites.

MSC Cruises says it had people on the phone recently trying to reconfirm their website booking on a cruise which did not appear in the MSC system, leaving on a day on which there was no departure.

National sales manager Craig Owens says agents must warn clients that booking overseas leaves them with no “absolutely no consumer protection”. He says MSC in Australia matches dollar-for-dollar any quote from an overseas website, though the difference is usually no more than $10-$20.

Referring to the US Vacations to Go site, he notes that the site carries a warning that it can sell only to US citizens.
Anyway, he says, with current MSC pricing as low as $880 for a 7-night Med cruise, no one here should be losing out the US or anywhere else.
